This is what natural rubber from the tree looks like before all the toxic chemicals are added to it including carbon black which gives the rubber its black colouraton. Carbon black is a residue from burning petroleum and is known to cause respiratory illnesses.

As you can see, natural rubber sets hard hence many toxic chemicals are added as softeners before it can be moulded into rubber products such as tyres.
